Philip Braginsky, Esq.
Chair
Philip Y. Braginsky joined LRF's Board in 2006 as a Director; and in January 2009 became Board Chair. Mr. Braginsky is a member of the New York law firm, Sills, Cummis & Gross where, as chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, he advises academic and business leaders in the areas of value creation through IP and patent and trademark procurement in life sciences, personal care, and financial industries. Mr. Braginsky is a 1990 graduate of Benjamin Cardozo School of Law and holds a B.A. degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has written numerous articles in the areas of intellectual property and private equity. He served as a guest lecturer at Columbia University on Patent Law in the 2007. Current memberships include the American Intellectual Property Law Association, Licensing Executives Society, and the International Trademark Association. His Bar admissions include: New York; U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York; U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal District.

Wendy Chaite, Esq.
Founder
Wendy Chaite, whose daughter was born with lymphatic disease and lymphedema, left her professional career in July 1998 to found the Lymphatic Research Foundation for which she serves as Founder. Ms. Chaite is currently serving a four year term on the Advisory Council of the National Center for Research Resources and on the Review Panel for Rare Diseases Clinical Research Consortia for the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network. She also serves as the COPR Liaison to the Director of National Institutes of Health Advisory Committee. She is a member of several health-related organizations, including the International Coalition Genetic Alliance, International Society of Lymphology, National Lymphedema Network, and National Organization of Rare Disorders. After graduating from law school in 1988, Ms. Chaite served as a federal judicial law clerk in the U. S. District Court, Southern District of New York. From 1990 to 1995, she worked as a corporate litigator with Mudge, Rose, Guthrie, Alexander, and Ferdon, a major Wall Street law firm. From 1995 to 1998, Ms. Chaite taught courses as an adjunct professor at Pace University School of Law. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Chaite was a corporate fundraiser for the United Way of Tri-State and spent years working with special needs populations, including the physically and mentally disabled, blind, deaf, and geriatric populations. Ms. Chaite has received numerous leadership awards throughout her educational and professional career. For her efforts in promoting lymphatic research, she was recognized by Research!America for her Exceptional Contributions as a Volunteer Advocate (2003); featured in Newsday as a "Newsday Everyday Hero" (2003); and recognized by the Women of Substance Ministries (2002), Junior League of Long Island (2001), and Newsday's Distinction magazine (2001). She lives in Roslyn, NY with her husband Bennett and two children, Melanie and Daniel.

Missy Stoen
Executive Vice-Chair
Missy Stoen, a graduate from Pepperdine University, has been running her own residential landscape design business in Southern California for the last 6 years. Since she was a small girl, she has been coping with her primary lymphedema, lymphedema distichiasis. Though she was very satisfied with having her own firm, she has decided to close her business and devote her time and energy to helping with the fight for recognition and research of lymphedema and other lymphatic diseases. She currently lives in Ventura, California with her husband.

Kenneth R. Cerini, CPA, CFP, D.A.B.F.A.
Treasurer
Kenneth Cerini, CPA, CFP, D.A.B.F.A., founding partner of the Long Island-based accounting firm, Cerini & Associates, LLP, joined the LRF Board as a Director in January, 2009. Mr. Cerini has extensive experience in financial planning and accounting in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Mr. Cerini is active with the Long Island chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and is a monthly contributor to Long Island Business News, writing about Long Island's non-profit organizations.

Noreen Krevis
Secretary
Noreen McMahon Krevis graduated from Ohio State University School of Law in 1989. She received her license that same year and began practicing Estate Planning, Probate Law and Taxation Law. Noreen has placed her legal practice on hold while she raises her young family. She is an active volunteer in the community, including serving on the school board at her children's school. Noreen and her husband, Ted, reside in Westlake, Ohio with their four children. Their second child, Lauren, was born with lymphedema. Noreen's involvement with LRF began in 1998.

A. Jeffrey Barash, Esq.
Director
Born in New York City, Mr. Barash is a Florida Board Certified Tax Attorney who specializes in Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts at his firm in Bay Harbor, Florida. A member of the California, New York and Florida Bar Associations, Mr. Barash is listed in Who's Who in American Law and has been an active lecturer and writer in the field of charitable giving for many years. Mr. Barash is Chairman of the Miami Beach Estate Planning Group, a member of the Greater Miami Estate Planning Council and the Dade County Planned Giving Council. Mr. Barash is currently a Trustee of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center of Florida and a member of their Audit and Trustee Service Committees. He is also a Director of the Transplant Foundation; Director of the National Parkinson Foundation; a member of the President's Cabinet of the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation; an Honorary Vice President/Director of the Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged; the Chairman of the Dade County Heritage Society of the American Committee for Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel; a Trustee of the American Committee for Boystown Jerusalem; and a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. Mr. Barash and his wife Wendy reside in Miami Beach, Florida, and have two children Daniel and Pamela.

Myrna Barzelatto, RN, MEd
Director
Ms. Barzelatto is a retiree and has been a committed LRF volunteer since its inception. She provides the Editorial Services for the official journal of the Lymphatic Research Foundation, Lymphatic Research and Biology. A graduate of Pace University and Teachers College, Columbia University, she began her nursing career providing patient care before directing the nursing school at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY. She devoted several years preparing students for the health professions through various programs. She later owned and operated a local religious radio station in Providence, RI, before another career change where she applied her talents to develop successful off-site fashion distribution outlets in the northeast. Along with her full time volunteer commitment to LRF, Ms. Barzelatto provides weekly nursing support to a nearby psychiatric hospital. She resides with her husband, Dominick, in White Plains, NY.

Doron Ilan, MD
Director
Dr. Ilan is an orthopedic surgeon in private practice located in New City, NY. Dr. Ilan was an undergraduate of State University of New York, Binghamton Psychobiology. Attended Tulane University — School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA. Interned at NYU-School of Medicine, New York. Residency at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases, New York, NY and Fellowship at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Ilan is a member of the State Medical Society, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Additionally, Dr. Ilan is Director of Hand Surgery at Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry and Contributing Editor — Yearbook of Hand and Upper Limb Surgery. Dr. Ilan interests are athletics and spearheaded the Team LRF triathlon in November 2009 to raise funds for the Lymphatic Research Foundation. Dr. Ilan has a son with lymphatic disease.

Francine Kaskel
Director
Ms. Kaskel has been involved with the implementation and management for medical and pharmaceutical projects for the last 14 years. Her responsibilities include coordinating and executing the logistics for special events and meetings, including LRF's international conference, The Lymphatic Continuum. She has also worked in the non-profit sector as the staff liaison to the allied health professional membership of the National Kidney Foundation. In this capacity, she sat on three executive committees focusing on both educational issues and annual national association meetings. Ms. Kaskel resides in New York City.

Roy E. Reichbach, Esq.
Director
Roy E. Reichbach is the General Counsel and a member of the Board of Directors of NeuLion, a leading Internet Protocol television company. He serves as an Alternate Governor of the New York Islanders Hockey Club on the Board of Governors of the National Hockey League. In that position, Roy is responsible for the Islanders' legal affairs. In addition to those responsibilities, he serves in a similar capacity for a number of related organizations controlled by Islanders owner Charles B. Wang, for whom Roy is personal counsel. Roy serves on the Board of Directors of two public charities, The New York Islanders Children's Foundation, which supports Long Island based non-profit organizations that provide opportunities to children in the areas of health, education and youth hockey development, and The KyLinTV Foundation, which was created to provide disaster support overseas. Roy is a 1984 graduate of Fordham College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He received his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in 1987.

Sheila H. Ridner, PhD, RN
Director
Sheila Ridner, PhD, RN, brings her scientific skills and a determination to improve the quality of life experienced by those who have lymphedema to her new role as LRF Board Member. As an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, Nashville, TN, Sheila has extensive health administration experience and is a nurse researcher concentrating on cancer-related lymphedema. She is a noted lecturer and has written numerous scholarly articles on lymphedema. Her commitment to this cause is that much stronger, given her personal experience of caring for a family member suffering from this condition. Sheila has wasted no time in helping LRF, joining forces with long-time board member, Calina Burns to raise funds and awareness for LRF and overseeing development of our National Lymphatic Disease and Lymphedema Patient Registry and Tissue Bank. Sheila states, "I am thrilled to be able to help advance the cause of lymphatic research and to be a part of such a well-respected organization."

Janis Slepian
Director
Janis Slepian began her career in New York's garment center representing junior specialty stores throughout the U.S. She left the retail side of the business to work in sales for a manufacturing company before founding her own junior clothing company. Ms. Slepian has been a valued supporter of The Portledge School in Locust Valley, New York where she raised significant funds for the annual giving drives and chaired a committee for their annual auction. Staunch supporters of LRF for several years, Janis and her husband Ted have been generous donors as well as active participants in the growth and development of the Foundation. They hosted a very successful fundraising parlor party at their home, and continue to open many doors of opportunity for LRF through introductions to their contacts. Ms. Slepian lives in Oyster Bay, NY with her husband, Ted, and two children, Jarret and Evan.

Zina Bethune
Emeritus
As an accomplished performer of International stature, Zina Bethune displayed an amazing wealth of versatility as a dancer, actress, choreographer and singer in film, television and in worldwide stage appearances. Known for her four years as the star of "The Nurses" her role as Barbara Sterling Latimer on "Love of Life" and as Robin in "The Guiding Light", Ms. Bethune was featured and guest starred on many popular television programs and has performed in film and on Broadway. Beginning her ballet training at age six with George Balanchine's School of American Ballet, Zina performed as a member of several prestigious dance companies. In 1969, she created her first dance company, "Zina Bethune and Company" based in New York. In 1980, Ms. Bethune formed her present multi-media dance company in Los Angeles, "Bethune Theatredanse". Ms. Bethune was a pioneer in the area of dance for mentally and physically challenged children. Zina formalized a Dance Outreach Program in 1983 fulfilling a lifelong interest in working and creating with disabled children. The program currently involves one thousand children. Her dance work has been the subject of a number of TV specials, documentaries and awards. Ms. Bethune lived in Los Angeles, California with her husband, and had lymphedema for most of her life.

Stanley G. Rockson, MD, FACP, FACC, Chair
Allan and Tina Neill Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine Chief of Consultative Cardiology Director, Stanford Center for Lymphatic and Venous Disorders Professor of Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine
Dr. Rockson is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is an Associate Program Director for the Residency Program in Internal Medicine. Dr. Rockson serves as the Chief of Consultative Cardiology and the Director of the Stanford Center for Lymphatic and Venous Disorders. He is the inaugural Allan and Tina Neill Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine. After earning his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, Dr Rockson completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He also completed a clinical fellowship in cardiovascular medicine and research fellowship in molecular at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, the Society of Vascular Medicine and Biology, and American College of Angiology, as well as a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine, the Paul Dudley White Society, the Society of Preventive Cardiology, and the International Society of Lymphology, among others. He is the recipient of numerous teaching awards. As a principal investigator or co-investigator, he has been involved in trials researching many aspects of cardiovascular medicine, including basic and clinical investigation in the fields of angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. In addition to contributing numerous articles to professional journals such as the American Journal of Medicine, Circulation, the FASEB Journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Cancer, and others, Dr. Rockson is Editor-in-Chief of Lymphatic Research and Biology and sits on the editorial board of Angiology. He serves as the Chair of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of the Lymphatic Research Foundation. He has been a frequent, invited lecturer at national and international societies and medical congress.

Dr. Granger has served as editor of several journals including Microcirculation, American Journal of Physiology, and Pathophysiology, and is a member of the editorial board of numerous academic journals. Dr. Granger has also served on several Federal Government Public Advisory Committees, including NIH-Clinical Sciences II Study Section, the Cardiovascular and Renal (CVB) Study Section, the General Medicine A-2 Study Section, and the Mucosal Pathobiology Study Section. Gerald L. Wolf, MD, PhD

Dr. Wolf earned his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Physiology and Pharmacology, and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Wolf is currently a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School From 1973-1975, Dr. Wolf received a Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health. From 1985-1989, he was part of the National Institutes of Health's Radiology Study Section, and served as Chairman from 1988-1989. Dr. Wolf holds the US and foreign patents for diagnostic imaging of lymph nodes.

David C. Zawieja, PhD

Dr. Zawieja received his Ph.D. in Physiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and conducted his post-doctorate work in Medical Physiology at Texas A&M University, where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Medical Physiology. The focus of his research is the generation and regulation of lymph flow, investigating the mechanisms by which physical and humoral factors alter lymph pumping. Through these studies, Dr. Zawieja's research is aimed toward advancing the basic understanding of lymphatic function needed to advance the development of lymphatic medical therapies. Dr. Zawieja is a reviewer for many academic journals and an Associate Editor for Microcirculation, and Lymphatic Research and Biology. He is the Director of the Division of Lymphatic Biology of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at TAMUS HSC, and the Director of the Physiological Imaging Facility. Dr. Zawieja received a NIH National Research Service Award, and a NIH Research Career Development Award. He has been the Principal or Collaborating Investigator on numerous lymphatic research proposals from NIH, AHA, NASA-NSBRI and TAMUS. Dr. Zawieja is a published author in several academic journals and books, with numerous articles, chapters and reviews on lymphatics.

Jacqueline Reinhard
Executive Director
Ms. Reinhard joined LRF as the Executive Director in July 2008. Prior to joining LRF, she was the Executive Director of the ALS Association Greater New York Chapter and the Executive Director of Information Systems for the College Board. She also served as Manager of Business Automation for NatWest Bank. Ms. Reinhard lives in Garden City, New York with her husband Stephen.
